Don't Resign, Gloria
:) Let me just say at the outset that I did not vote for you. Neither am I your admirer. You can say I am a citizen just as the others are. Don't resign? Why not? 1. While there are various suspected groups behind the escalating uproar demanding your resignation such as: a. the Panfilo Lacson group b. some elements of the Catholic Church c. the leftists d. the drug lords e. the rightists waiting on the wings f. Noli de Castro, FVR and civil society combine g. the Erap group h. the military disgruntled elements i. the CIA, that wants to send a messsage not to entertain China's overtures j. Eddie Villanueva group cum separate elements of civil society k. established & vested interests You can add more to this list of alleged perpetrators of destabilization. Question is: Assuming you resign, who is going to take over? This is not yet clear. And the interests of many strident voices are not clear. Neither is there a type of government as well as an alternative program to ensure that it's going to be better than the current one, no matter how shallow it looks, no matter how incomprehensive and incongruous oftentimes implementation and execution are as against policy and vision. True, forces are being re-aligned, the swirling cyclone of conflicts is sucking in disparate elements until only two sides are finally defined: the pros and the cons. It is foreseen that eventually as the fires of turbulence are fanned, there will be a convergence of forces and a confluence of events, While this scenario is not new, it is unfortunate that while economists speak economics and politicians speak politics and the citizenry waiting at the sidelines, there is still no one who has a roadmap and a blueprint for tomorrow. What will be the shape of the future of our grandchilren? Is there a future? How will this generation of leaders reckon up with Filipinos 20, 40, nay, 100 years from now? Will they build monuments for this generation or burn our effigies? There seems to be such a natural skill among Filipinos to easily break up, to disharmonize and to kill down advocacies and programs before they even begin. Can't we try something else? For instance, instead of saying,"Resign!" , the various groups will cohere and say, "ok, let's look for something creative but do-able. And, we're here to build, not to destroy. So, let's do it all together. Together we sink or together we swim. Nevertheless, together. No for ourselves alone but for the next generations. If China could do it, if Malaysia could do it, if Singapore could do it, if Korea could do it, if Europe could do it, if the early American colonies did it, if Vietnam could do it and rise from the ashes of yesterday, we ... much more. Because we're not politicians... or economists. We are Filipinos. Under God's sovereignty, we shall overcome." This is yet untried. I urge every one to consider this untrodden path. Who knows, this just might be Our Prescription for Victory. Shall we get together...err...friends, countrymen, fellow patriots?

WHY RESIGN?
Dear Madam President: With all due respect, may I say YOU HAVE NO RIGHT NOR REASON to resign. The millions of Filipinos who voted for you can not be fooled by moronic black propaganda perpetrated by the power greedy nor by technological gimmickry and cyber terrorism. It has been quite some time now when people can send talking e-cards. (i.e. - some e-cards on bluemountain.com) Whatever word I type, the voice on the e-card will utter. Logically, it is much more easier to modify, alter, add to the recorded voice of someone. Cyberterrorism is prevalent: they can create nude images out of images of decent persons; they could create malicious conversations out of clean, formal conversations. But the Filipino is intelligent. Besides, I can't think of any other Filipino who is tougher, more efficient, more intelligent and more honest and modest than you to lead this country in these challenging times. Although I didn't quite like the "presko" attitude of Congressman Mikey, I don't beleive that he is involved in jueteng, not even Sir Mike. MORE POWER TO YOU MADAM PRESIDENT! :D

When Pres. Bush the Younger was elected president, I noticed a pattern: President Bush the Younger, Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, and King Husssein the Younger of Jordan ARE ALL CHILDREN OF FORMER HEADS OF STATE. Then I saw Pres. George Bush the younger rocked with accusations of cheating in the Presidential election. Now I see President Arroyo also accused of cheating in her Presidential election. I look with wonder at what is happening. In 1988, I said to our Catholic parish priest that George Bush (the elder) will be President. And indeed George Bush the Elder became President. But one thing I saw was this. THE YEAR WAS WRONG. I felt it would be nice if Bush was President not in 1988 but at the Milleneum. I was both surprised and not surprised when in the 2000 election GEORGE BUSH THE YOUNGER was in a very close and controversial race with Vice President Gore. And was even much more surprised and not surprised when Bush Jr WAS DECLARED PRESIDENT. And what a controversial US President he was. He disobeyed the Pope. He went to war in Iraq. And President Saddam Hussein of Iraq, LET GO THOUSANDS OF PRISONERS AND HARDENED CRIMINALS EXACTLY ON THE VERY DAY WHEN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IN ITS MASSES ALL OVER THE WORLD WAS RETELLING THE STORY ABOUT CYRUS THE GREAT RELEASING THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF JEWS FOR NO UNDERSTANDABLE REASON IN WHAT IS HISTORICALLY KNOWN AS THE "DYSPERIA" OR "DISPERSION OF THE JEWS." How come President Saddam Hussein let go thousands and thousands of prisoners EXACTLY ON THE DAY WHEN THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH WAS RECOUNTING THE RELEASE OF THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF JEWS BY CYRUS THE GREAT WHO IN THE BIBLE, GOD DESCRIBES AS "MY BELOVED SERVANT CYRUS". I don't think President Saddam Hussein knew that Catholic Churches were recounting Cyrus the Great's story that day all over the world. I myself didn't know it until I heard at the 5:30 pm mass. And then right after mass I went to my vehicle. As I turned the key, the radio went on. And guess what???? TO MY SURPRISE, THE NEWS WAS THAT PRESIDENT SADDAM HUSSEIN LET GO THOUSANDS OF PRISONERS. IT WAS JUST SO SIMILIAR TO THE CYRUS THE GREAT RELEASE OF PRISONERS WHICH I HEARD AT MASS ABOUT ONE HALF HOUR BEFORE. (President Saddam Hussein and Cyrus the Great were rulers of the same country, Iraq!!! Only, Cyrus the Great's country was larger because it was Iraq and Iran combined!!!! The Persian Empire!!!!) I have not heard this in any of the Catholic Churches or Catholic news. But that's what happened. That's FACT!!!! Came Pres. Bush the Younger's re-election AND HE WAS RE-ELECTED PRESIDENT!!!!! Now comes allegations, accusations that Pres. Arroyo cheated in the Presidential election. ============= From my Catholic Education, I have been educated to believe that IT IS GOD WHO DECIDES WHO WILL RUN THE COUNTRY. We might be having an election. From our view, we are the ones deciding who will be our president. BUT GOD GIVES BAD LEADERS TO BAD PEOPLE AND GOOD LEADERS WHO FOLLOW HIS COMMANDMENTS. It is really very strange to see a small mountain that nobody knew was an extinct volcano all these centuries since the world was thought to be flat instead of a globe so much so that the US PUT TWO MAJOR BASES RIGHT IN THE VICINITY OF THE VOLCANO. AND WHAT IS SO STRANGE IS THE FACT THAT IT WAS THE VOLCANO THAT DROVE THE AMERICANS TO ABANDON THE BASES. IMAGINE THE VOLCANO CLIMAXING ITS ERUPTION AS THE PHILIPPINE CONGRESS WAS DEBATING WHETHER TO RENEW THE 100 YEAR LEASE!!!!! AND THIS VOLCANO, ONE OF THE SMALLEST IN THE WORLD, SPEWED OUT SO MUCH ASHES INTO THE SKY THAT IT BECAME AN UMBRELLA CASTING SHADOWS AND COOLING THE EARTH BELOW, SHUTTING DOWN ALL TALKS ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING AT THAT TIME WORLDWIDE!!!!! I believe we are living in BIBLICAL TIMES. LOTS OF STRANGE THINGS WHICH ARE FORETOLD IN THE BIBLE, LIKE THESE 80 ft 100 ft waves WHICH ARE NOW COMMON. THE BIBLE MENTIONS ABOUT THE RETURN OF THE SON OF MAN, PRECEEDED BY EVENTS SUCH AS THE ROARING OF THE SEAS WHICH WILL BRING GREAT FEAR AMONG PEOPLE AS TO WHAT IS HAPPENING TO WORLD. MAY GOD BLESS THE DECENDANTS OF ABRAMHAM, SARAI, HAGAR, KETURAH. They are all in the veil of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas and the Philippine Islands. I saw this note on a large portrait of Our Lady of Guadalupe in a Shrine in Texas. It was is Spanish. It read somethig like this: "Emperatriz de las Americas y las Islas Filipinas" In the eyes of the Original Portrait which just miraculously appeared on Juan Diego's Aztec Overcoat while in front of the Bishop, her eyes when examined with the ELECTRON MICROSCOPE SHOWED THAT IN THE PUPILS OF THE EYES ARE PICTURES OF PEOPLE INCLUDING A PERSON BELIEVED TO BE THE BISHOP, JUST LIKE IN YOUR EYES ARE REFLECTIONS OF THE SURROUNDINGS IN FRONT OF YOUR EYES. In the 15th century when this happened, THERE WERE NO MICROSCOPES NOR ELECTRON MICROSCOPES TO HELP FABRICATE A FRAUD. Muslims too have great reverence for the Blessed Virgin Mary. They believe her to be a very very holy woman. They believe that she is a virgin and gave birth to Jesus Christ without a human father. To muslims, Jesus is a prophet. Yes, you can talk with Muslims from all over the world at the Catholic Answers, EWTN site. Go to Non-Catholic Religions then to the ISLAM Sub-forum. With God's help, this link will bring PEACE TO THE MUSLIMS AND CATHOLICS IN THE PHILIPINNES. http://forums.catholic.com/

Sequel to Don't Resign Gloria!
:) In my earlier message on this forum, I said: "Don't Resign, Gloria." And again, I say: "Don't resign, Gloria." And why not? Am I Gloria's admirer? Nope. Then why should she still hang in there? Okay, let's take a look at the picture. Everybody should honestly, repeat: honestly answer these questions: 1. Is there a clear alternative leader? Or are there pretenders who are jockeying for position for personal interests? 2. Is there a clear alternative program of government? Or is it just an expression of a desire, a concept, a theory, or a has-been even? 3. Should GMA step down right now, can any one give the assurance that it will be better...for sure? 4. Imagine yourself facing 20 12-year olds of year 2020, and they ask this generation what have you done to ensure a better tomorrow for the next generations, can you say without blinking an eye that you did your best and in the process you were not thinking of your vested interests which consequently would usher in troubles of many kinds beyond our control? 5. Do you honestly think that a military junta, no matter how they clothe it with civilian personas, can whip up the whole country and cause disparate segments of society to get together in harmony, unity, teamwork and cooperation? 6. Will a leftist, nay, communist-socialist aristocracy be able to do better than what happened to USSR (it crumbled because the communist sysem had failed)? 7. Will a centrist group headed by elements of the Catholic Church, together with some friendly non-Catholic religious groups, and some debris of the erstwhile solid civil society, cum Makati Business Club and the local chamber of commerce and industries, be able to single out a leader who can serve as some kind of a conductor and orchestrate a symphony of political, social, economic and international agenda for Philippine progress? 8. Will we eventually yield to a (behind-the-scenes) CIA-instigated brouhaha designed to culminate to a conclusion that we did not imagine? 9. Aren't the crime syndicates (gambling lords and drug lords and organized terror groups) celebrating while the nation is "bothered, bewitched and bewildered?" 10. How come one of the most educated people on the face of the earth can't get their act together? What will bring this about? What power or force or persuasion will make us walk our talk and make us the kind of people that we must, (empahasis on "must") be, for the sake of our children and our children's children? Let me get now to the main proposition. At this point in time, Gloria should not resign. She had admitted that she was that "Hello Garci" voice. She said that she wanted to protect her "franchise" over a million or so votes. It was not to rig the results of the elections. Of course, there are opposing voices to that statement. What do we do then? Let's settle the problem. How? Let's proceed following the constitutional and legal processes. While that's being done, for the sake of the country...let's give her the benefit of the doubt. Until and if it's proven that she's guilty of a crime that warrants her resignation. In the meantime, let's really look hard for short term, mid-term and long term solutions. Those that are not of the nature of band-aid programs, but those that seriously address specific issues (problems and needs). This obviously requires sacrifice, patriotism and the highest level of statesmanship. It's easier to plug a leak on a ship than to get it up from the ocean floor after it had sunk. Is there hope for the country? There are no hopeless situations. There are only men who have lost hope. The Filipinos are one of the brightest, greatest and noblest peoples on planet earth. We have survived more perilous times. Instead of pointing fingers at one another, let's put our shoulders to the stalled jeepney in the mud. If China has made it, if Malaysia has made it, yes, Korea and Vietnam both have made it, I dare say: "much more can the Filipinos make it." Let's tackle the issues one tiny step at a time. Before you know it, it's all done. And the harvest is waiting for us. God bless the Philippines.

Re: I'm sure there are many intelligent Filipinos
Hey Domingo...kapag nagresign si Gloria..then what? tutunganga na lang tayo...at baket mo iisipin ang sasabihin ng iba na Filipinos are "magnanaw" , "manloloko" like there leader..akala mo lang un..kase nde naman bobo ang ibang bansa para isipin un.. at wala naman silang paki sa atin...kaya wag mo na silang isipin... at nde ko makakain at ng milyo milyong Filipino ang magandang tingin ng ibang bansa sa atin...baket kung maganda ba ang impression nila sa atin..papautangin ba nila tayo? tatanggalin nila utang natin?! at nde ko talaga makuha ang logic nito: Filipinos are "magnanaw" , "manloloko" like there leader...baket sila maggegenaralize, d ba?! so ang tingin mo ba sa mga Iraqi eh dictator katulad ng leader nlang si Saddam..ganun ba un? i dont think so! I'm sure there are more good replies in these forum. But opposing views are edited out. You have the constitutional right to resign. If you love this country, let us not divide and make a peaceful exit. With power of greed still running in your polluted blood, you are no different to the worst dictator. Let us gain a little respect to you. Please resign. How can you represent the Filipinos to the world? Filipinos are "magnanaw" , "manloloko" like there leader. Gloria have mercy, RESIGN. :D

TaxPayerako- 07-02-2005

What agony?!!? First of all, please dont speak as if you are speaking in behalf of every Filipino. ang agony ng Pinoy magiistart kapag nagresign si Gloria...paresign kayo ng paresign eh ano na nga ang gagawin natin kapag nagresign sha...i am sure aalis na ang mga investors, babagsak na ang stocks natin..so pano na, papalitan ng mas professional na magnanakaw? You should have resigned three weeks ago. You are just prolonging the agony of the Filipino people. If you still have decency in you cut and cut cleanly now. Don't listen to those people whose standards of decency is below yours.

Still on Gloria: To resign or not to resign
:) Hi every one. Now there are those who have voiced out their sentiments on this topic. Anger, frustration, "alis diyan" moods have been ventilated on this forum. I started out by saying "Gloria, don't resign." I didn't say "never". I said "don't". That "don't" was conditional. Inasmuch as there was not, at the time of the posting of my first message on this forum (please go back and read my first message), a clear alternative program of government. Neither was there a clear alternative leader who will bring us out of the dark woods into the green meadows of security and peace. And it gave PGMA the benefit of the doubt while the dark clouds of debate hovered over the issue. Is she guilty or not? Guilty of what? Did she commit an unethical act unbecoming of leaders of government? Who can prove it? If it is proven, what will happen? Not so much about what are the legal requirements on succession. No, no, far from it. But, are we, both administration or majority, and opposition or minority, building the nation? Or destroying whatever good still remains. There are those who would plot to destroy the "democratic" institutions as we know them. In some ways, they score points. It is of public knowledge that there is widespread, institutionalized graft and corruption. It is of public knowledge that there is gross injustice in favor of the rich. It is of public knowledge that many government officials serve their selfish interests, instead of the interests of the majority. The whole world knows about it. The Philippines is ranked among the most corrupt governments in the world. About 40% of government money goes into the pockets of those in government. The institutions are oftentimes found wanting of sincerity, commonsense, productivity and basic good behavior. One word that describes many government institutions is "inept." Largely because of their inability to respond to the vital needs of their clientele and stakeholders. But for all these, there are exceptions. There are still good police officers, good soldiers, good people in government. But that is not to say that the institutions are adequate, responsive and relevant. The country used to be next to Japan in economic level in this part of the world. The Philippine peso used to have more value than the HK dollar. We were ahead of Thailand in rice production. Now we are at the cellar. There's no excuse for that. Even history isn't kind enough to vindicate Filipino leaders. Yet, we cannot be hasty because in running too fast, one can stumble. And the result is even worse than the problem that one wants to solve. Divisiveness is infectious. And it can be protracted. We've been divided for over 40 years now. We're merely recycling what was done before. The faces are different, the personalities different, but it's the same comedy of errors all over again. If so, we must try a new tack. Can we, for once, be united, cooperating with one another, and building instead of destroying? We must not only change individuals. We must change structures, systems, ways of doing things. We must change our individual, nay, national thinking. And first of all, we must change ourselves. That includes me. The change must be one where hearts melt under the power of passionate prayer...to the God Who alone controls our destiny. Wanna join me? :) Let us pray.

mannylumba888- 07-08-2005
National Unity is not only for today
I called for national unity. The call is not to support a person. Or an administration. It's neither for Gloria. Nor for the opposition. Those who don't distinguish this need to reflect once more. This call for national unity challenges us to: 1. Think "national", i.e., the good of the entire country, not just for me, myself, and I; nor for the party, nor for an elite business group or a strong ideologically based group, whether leftist, rightist or centrist. 2. Think "build" rather than destroy. If the methods are constructive, then the nation will and can be built. If the methods are destructive, then small wonder that the Philippines which used to be a showwindow in Asia now is a cellar dweller in the region. Should Gloria resign, what is in place or nearly about to be put in place? Is there a program of government that is relevant, realistic, creative and synergistic enough that can catapult the country from the "pit" to the "platform"? And who or which group has the majority support of the Filipino citizenry? Will the next chief of state just do a re-play of its predecessor? In that case, that will be prolonged agony for the Filipino people indeed. Is there any one among the major players in the current scenario who can assure this generation and the ones yet unborn that this present crop of "leaders" has prepared a secure future, nay, a legacy, for posterity? With what means, resources and agenda? Will every one again dance to the tune of the elitists and the aristocrats? What will be the lot of those who don't belong to such high social and political circles? There is only one pie: it's called political and economic power. There are several fingers sticking themselves into the pie: the liberal party, the nacionalista party, other parties; the leftists, the rightists, the centrists; the business groups, other vested interests, organized crime, foreign powers, political "has-beens", "lameducks", and "pretenders". Media is having a heyday. Meantime, the peso is down, the stockmarket reeling, fuel prices are threatening to skyrocket, if they have not already, zoomed sky-high, prices of commodities have risen to significant levels, and woe to the Filipino common man. There are no permanent friends. Only temporary enemies. The Philippines is at the crossroads of dramatic change. A change of leadership is in the offing. Hopefully, there will be significant, substantial positive change, not only on a personal level but more importantly, systemic and structural as well as attitudinal change. In the meantime, it won't hurt for us to pray for divine intervention and guidance. God changes seasons and kings; lifts up the poor and needy and brings down the haughty and proud. God bless the Philippines.

I didn't vote for GMA nor FPJ. I am also a dreamer. A dreamer that someday our nation and the lives of the poor will change into something prosperous and not the way it is right now. I have been observing GMA right after Edsa 2. With all the problems she inherited from the past administrations, I never had hope nor visions that this country can stand again to its perfection. It is doomed to fall into pieces. Whoever gets to deal with the problems of the country will never succeed because there is no remedy for the attitude of its citizenry towards change and sacrifice for the country. Most of them lived by the notions that when there is a change in governance, so does with their lives even without doing anything. I have observed that GMA wanted to bet the odds by making drastic moves to change all these even if they are unpopular. She doesn't care what the surveys says just as long as she can implement the changes to uplift the lives of the poor. Good governance is what she's trying to teach the nation. I have seen presidents come and go, but GMA has all the right solutions to the problems our country is facing right now. Gone are the days of the Kidnap for Ransom gang, Illegal drug laboratories, Jueteng, Smuggling, Corruption, Pirates, and all its protectors from the goverment. All of them are making noise for GMA to resign so that they can go back to their illegal business. Madam President Arroyo, you were elected by the majority of the people to lead our nation. Please do not resign your position. We need a President who can bring good governance and prosperity to the nation.

ezedward- 07-08-2005

It's really hard to deal with people who doesn't have respect. What do I expect from a mind of person who doesn't have this quality. Nonsense! Is it the upbringing or the environment in which this person is associated with? I can see from his words who he is and what his status in the society is right now. I feel so sorry for you man.(whoever you are) I guess you're in the wrong crowd and may I suggest you go back to school and learn some respect. Please!

I don’t speak for or in behalf of the Filipino people. It's just a matter of time. One, two, three, four, five..........

Oo nga tama na ang divisiveness. God and his angels should give up and join Satan para wala ng away. We should join immorality, para wala ng pagtatalo. Gunggong! hahahahaha!!!!
